Last updated: 24 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how HOKO Studio Ltd (“HOKO”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you visit hoko.studio (the “Site”) or engage with our programs and services. It also sets out your rights in relation to your personal data.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and other applicable data protection laws. Where you access our Site or services from outside the United Kingdom — including from Morocco, the European Union, or elsewhere — we apply these same standards of protection to your data.

What personal data we collect

We only collect the data we need to respond to you, deliver our services, and improve our Site. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

Information you give us directly. When you complete a contact form, book a conversation, or otherwise reach out to us, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, telephone number, and any details you choose to include in your message (such as information about a student, academic goals, or your enquiry).

Information we collect automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device information, pages viewed, time spent on pages, referring website, and similar usage data. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see the Cookies section below).

We do not intentionally collect special category data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs) through the Site. Please do not submit such information through our forms unless specifically requested and with a clear lawful basis.

How we use your data and our lawful basis

Under the UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. We rely on the following:

To respond to your enquiry and assess fit (lawful basis: legitimate interests / steps prior to entering a contract). When you contact us or book a conversation, we use your details to reply, arrange and conduct that conversation, and determine whether our program is a suitable fit for you.

To provide our services (lawful basis: performance of a contract). If you enrol in a HOKO program, we use your data to deliver the program, communicate with you, and administer your account and payments.

To analyse and improve our Site (lawful basis: consent, via cookies). We use analytics to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Where required, this is done on the basis of your consent through our cookie banner.

To comply with legal obligations (lawful basis: legal obligation). We may process data to meet our accounting, tax, regulatory, and other legal requirements.

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider we need to use it for a compatible reason.

Marketing communications

We will only send you marketing communications if you have asked us to or otherwise consented. You can opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at contact@hoko.studio.

Cookies and analytics

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files placed on your device that help the Site function and allow us to understand how it is used.

We use:

Strictly necessary cookies, which are required for the Site to operate and cannot be switched off in our systems.

Analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors interact with the Site (for example, through Google Analytics or a comparable provider). These collect information in an aggregated form.

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies, via a cookie banner. You can withdraw your consent or change your preferences at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies; please note that disabling certain cookies may affect how the Site functions.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

Service providers who help us run our business and Site — for example, hosting providers, analytics providers, email and CRM platforms, and payment processors — who process data on our behalf under appropriate contractual safeguards.

Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors, and legal advisers where necessary.

Authorities or third parties where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

All third parties are required to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law.

International data transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom, and we serve clients internationally, including in Morocco and the European Union. As a result, your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in countries outside your own. Some of our service providers may also be located outside the UK.

Whenever we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection, including by relying on adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we collected it, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

In general, we retain enquiry and contact data for up to 24 months after our last meaningful interaction with you, and client and financial records for up to 7 years to meet legal and tax obligations. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to safeguard the information you provide to us.

Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at ines@hoko.studio. We will respond within the timeframes required by law (normally within one month). You will not usually have to pay a fee.

If you are in the UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first. If you are located in another country, you may also contact your local data protection authority.

Children’s privacy

Our programs may involve students, including those under the age of 18, but the Site is intended to be used by parents, guardians, and adults acting on a student’s behalf. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 16 without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us so we can address it.

Third-party links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review it periodically.
